Categories
Categories are tags you can attach to your leads to organize and filter them — for example, by industry, communication style, or how you found them. A lead can belong to multiple categories at once.
What categories are for
Categories are useful anywhere you need to work with a subset of your leads rather than all of them:
- Targeting a campaign — enroll only leads tagged "Enterprise" instead of your whole list.
- Segmenting outreach style — tag leads as "Professional" or "Casual" based on how they prefer to be addressed, so you know which tone fits before you write to them.
- Tracking source or status — tag leads by where they came from (e.g. "Conference 2026") or where they are in your process.
Creating a category doesn't assign anyone to it automatically — you choose which leads belong to each category after it exists.
Creating a category
Click Create Category in the top right, then give it a name and, optionally, a short description explaining what it means or when to use it. The description shows up next to the category name in the list — handy once you have more than a couple of categories and need a reminder of what each one is for.
The categories list
Each category row shows:
- Name and description — description appears greyed out next to the name, if you added one.
- Lead count — a pill showing how many leads currently carry this category (e.g. "2 leads").
- Action buttons, from left to right:
- Add (+) — assign leads to this category.
- View (eye icon) — see the full list of leads currently tagged with this category.
- Edit (pencil icon) — rename the category or update its description.
- Delete (trash icon) — remove the category entirely. This unassigns it from every lead that had it — it doesn't delete the leads themselves, only the tag.
You can also search categories by name, and sort the list Alphabetically, by Leads (count), or by Created date.
A note on deleting
Deleting a category is permanent — there's no way to undo it or recover which leads had it once it's gone. If a category has leads assigned, double check the count before deleting, especially if it's being used to target an active campaign.
